Milne slams English EID

DEFRA'S CHOICE of an Irish firm to deliver England's sheep EID system could have serious consequences for Scotland and the whole of the UK sheep sector.

That was the fear expressed by the National Sheep Asociation's Scottish development officer George Milne to The Scottish Farmer this week.

Said Mr Milne: "I find this move by Defra truly astonishing. It has awarded the contract to a firm across the Irish sea without consulting the two organisations at the centre of the whole EID debate, namely the NSA and the English NFU.
