That was the fear expressed by the National Sheep Asociation's Scottish development officer George Milne to The Scottish Farmer this week.
Said Mr Milne: "I find this move by Defra truly astonishing. It has awarded the contract to a firm across the Irish sea without consulting the two organisations at the centre of the whole EID debate, namely the NSA and the English NFU.
