New beef body's birthday

A NEW unified beef body for Scotland – the Scottish Beef Association – will formally come into existence next Monday, the opening day of bull sales week.

At a meeting in the Royal Hotel Bridge of Allan, the new body will be born from the coming together of the Scottish Beef Cattle Association and NBA Scotland.

However, there is some discontent over the decision that £50 of the proposed £75 SBA membership fee will go over the Border to the NBA's Hexham HQ, with £25 remaining in Scotland to run the new organisation.
