SBA row nears boiling point

THE next – and possibly final chapter – in bringing to a conclusion the formation of a new Scottish Beef Association will be played out in Edinburgh on Monday, writes Douglas MacSkimming.

At a meeting in the Quality Inn, the steering group representing the Scottish Beef Cattle Association and NBA Scotland are scheduled to meet under the chairmanship of John Ross to draw-up an agenda, venue and date – early in the new year -– for the first inaugral meeting of the SBA at which a board and chairman will be appointed.

But, as The Scottish Farmer went to press on Wednesday, some of the board of directors of the SBCA, due to meet on Thursday, were seriously concerned with the way the merger deal – agreed at NBA's Hexham headquarters last week – was conducted with the finger firmly pointed at their chairman Scott Henderson.
