THE SCOTTISH Association of Young Farmers Clubs will be reporting an operational loss of £7,734 at their November agm – a considerable improvement on the previous year, which reported an operational loss of £84,000.
SAYFC national chairman, John Owen, commented: “The association has make great progress over the past 12 months to improve our financial situation without most importantly having to make any considerable increase to membership fees.
“We have now carried out reviews of all income and expenditure whilst creating a strategic plan for the future. It is essential we do not get complacent and continue to work towards an operational profit for the current year,” he said.
“Thanks must go to all our supporters, sponsors and funders for not only financial support but guidance and advice,” he added.
National secretary, Penny Laird, added: “Changes in the staff structure have seen staff numbers fall from six to four, while all committees are giving more focus to budgets for events and activities. Overhead expenditure has been reduced considerably.”
