HALKIRK YOUNG Farmers recently held a successful fundraising event, Dyno Day, featuring a variety of tractors.

The initiative’s main attraction involved calculating the exact horsepower of various tractors. A total of 45 machines were tested so it proved popular, raising £30 a time. There was also an all-day BBQ and fun games organised at the event, held at the Harpsdale premises of sponsor GS Donn Mechanical Maintenance and Repairs.

It was the first competition of it’s kind to be held by the club, whose members are grateful for the sponsorship and donations from Mclaren Tractors, Scot JCB, A and S Contractors, Robertsons Orkney, Linklater Engineering, W and A Geddes, Raymond Henderson, and Caithness Summer Fruits.

The event managed to raise just over £1200 for club funds.

Leading awards:

Smokiest tractor – Gavin Munro, with his Massey Ferguson T20, who was presented with a trophy donated by M Munro; runner-up – James Sinclair with his David Brown 1594. He won £30 off his next service at GS Donn.
