MEMBERS of Carluke YFC added another notch to the club's winning belt when the 'blue' team secured first place at the recent West Region senior speechmaking eliminations held at Prestwick Academy.
Following the format of chairman, speaker, question master and proposer of the vote of thanks, the team, Jennifer Hall, John Brown, Scott Somerville and Lizzie Mackie, picked up first place ahead of Crossroads YFC.
Taking third and fourth positions were Kilmaurs YFC and Lower Nithsdale YFC, respectively, with all four teams qualifying for the National final at the compeitions weekend in Elgin at the end of the month.
There were further prizes for the best panel members outwith the winning team and the tickets here went to chairman Laura McMurdo and speaker Vicky Scott, both from Kilmaurs YFC, with Crossroads YFC's Andrew Taylor best question master and Bobby Landers, of Machars YFC, best proposer of the vote of thanks.
