TWO Davids have taken on the top two roles at the head of the East Region following the recent agm at the Young Farmers Centre, Ingliston, where retiring chairman Jane Orr led the formal proceedings.

The evening, which also saw the regional participation and recruitment results announced, saw David Barclay step up to take the chairman reins from Jane, while David Lawrie follows his footsteps as vice chairman of the region.

The former, a current member of Bankfoot JAC, is an agronomist in Perth and has played a key role within district, regional and national committees during the past five years.

Supporting the chairman is vice chair David Lawrie, the immediate past chairman of Kinross JAC who is a partner in the family's dairy business near Kinross. He's also played an active role within in the East Region, and is the East representative of the Agri and Rural Affairs committee.

Jane concluded her year as chairman saying: "It has been a huge honour to be East Region chairman for the past year, a challenge I would never have contemplated when I joined Young Farmers twelve years ago as an incredibly timid 16-year-old.

"The smooth running of SAYFC is very much a team effort and I would just like to thank you all for helping to contribute to the East this year. The region is growing year on year and it has been very fulfilling to be part of the committee throughout the years and see these changes being implemented. I wish the new committee a very successful forthcoming year."

The announcement of the regional participation and recruitment saw Perth JAC lead the recruitment with West Fife YFC in second and Ettrick and Lauderdale JAC in third. Participation wise, Kinross JAC came out on top with East Fife JAC second and Strathearn JAC third.
