THERE was some stiff competition at Gargunnock Show, last weekend, when members of the West Region took to the main ring with the hopes of qualifying for the National tug-of-war final later in the month.
Top qualifiers in the gents section was the Biggar YFC team that won the final against Ayr YFC. Coming in third and fourth, respectively, was Callander YFC’s A team and Crossroads YFC.
Among the ladies, it was Ayr YFC that won the final against Carluke YFC, with Biggar YFC winning the third-fourth pull off against Avondale YFC.
All four top teams in each section will compete in the final at the Royal Highland Show.
