MAUCHLINE YFC triumphed in today's National speechmaking final to win back the trophy it secured at competitions weekend back in 2015.
Team members Claire Templeton as chair, Drew Wilson, James Gemmell and Julie Clark claimed the victory in this year's competition which saw each chairperson take control of a panel of members from other clubs.
It was a close call as Bankfoot JAC finished only one third of a point behind due to a small time penalty, but a good first attempt at speechmaking for all the team members - Anna Sloan, Catherine Sloan, Euan Penny and Romy Jackson. There were further celebrations for the local team when Catherine was deemed best panel member outwith the winning team.
Finishing in third place were John Howie, Andrew Taylor, Robert Campbell and Jane Strawhorn from Crossroads YFC and Forfar JAC's Matthew Steel was best chair outwith the winning team.
See this week's issue of The Scottish Farmer, out March 4, for a full round-up of the National competitions weekend.
