MAUCHLINE YFC ruled at the recent West Region speechmaking when the team went on to secure the top spot and qualify for the National final.
This year’s format sees a chairman joined by three panel members from other teams, and it was Mauchline’s Claire Templeton, Julie Clark, James Gemmell and Drew Wilson that took the top spot.
Coming in second were Jamie Young, Katie Austin, Thomas McCubbin and Elizabeth Smith from Lower Nithsdale YFC while Carluke YFC’s Lizanne Young, Fraser Douglas, Joanne Hall and Andrew McGregor finished in third.
All three teams, as well as the Crossroads YFC and Annandale YFC ‘red’ team that finished in fourth and fifth, respectively, will now go on to represent the region at the National final held as part of the competitions weekend in Perth.
