POOR weather conditions resulted in a reduced entry for Lawrie and Symington’s store cattle sale which included a show and sale of overwintering calves from Lanarkshire Young Farmers' Clubs, at Lanark on Tuesday.

Judge William Purdon, of Straven House, found his champion in the shape of a Limousin bullock from Carluke YFC’s Scott Bourman. Named Stan, he later sold to Mr Purdon for £1230.

In reserve was a Limousin cross heifer named Black Beauty from Tom Linton, Biggar YFC, which went unsold.
