BOWER YFC ruled at the recent SAYFC Highland Rally when the club secured wins in many of the individual sections and went on to take the overall title for the third year in a row. 

This year’s rally was hosted by the Caithness District and clubs from all across the region headed to Quoybrae Mart, Watten, for a day of competition. It kicked off with the industrial section, where Halkirk YFC won the Nan Howie Silver Salver for collecting the most points in the baking section but Bower YFC won the overall, 

A busy day of stockjudging saw Bower YFC’s ‘A’ team of Douglas Webster, Scott Webster and James Gunn win the team competition, with Douglas going on to win the individual. Halkirk YFC’s Fiona Sinclair won the ladies section and Strathspey YFC’s Kyle Cruickshank was the best junior. 

The practical section put the members through their paces in competitions including digger driving, stacking square bales, fault finding, identification and welding. Bower YFC won this section. 

With the sun shining down, the afternoon’s sports competitions almost proved too hot. Halkirk YFC won both the gents and ladies five-a-side football as well as the tug-of-war, but it was Bower YFC that won the overall.
