LANARKSHIRE district team member, Zoe Bryson, has just been crowned Scottish Association of Young Farmers' Clubs' Stockman of the Year.

Zoe, 19 and an Avondale YFC member, was a popular winner at the presentation this evening, which was held in the MacRobert shearing theatre instead of the Young Farmers' centre due to high winds.

This is her fourth year competiting in the competition and she was following on from a team win in the junior section last year and helped land the Lanarkshire entry a third in the team competition.

Coming in second place was Andy Ireland from Ayrshire, with Clyde and Central's James Graham was third.

Clyde and Central scooped another team win with Ayrshire A in second and Lanarkshire A in third.

Leading the junior section was 18-year-old East Aberdeenshire's Melissa Buchan, with the East Aberdeenshire A team of James Lowe, Finlay Greig and David Moir winning the junior team title.

The other big competition was the National tug-of-war final where Biggar YFC secured a sixth win in the gents section after a pull-off against Keith YFC, and Callander YFC finished in third place.

In the ladies section it was Ayr YFC that claimed the top spot with Biggar YFC in third and Keith YFC in third.

A full report of all SAYFC's events and competitions at the Royal Highland Show will feature in the July 1 issue of The Scottish Farmer.
