THE EAST Region of the Scottish Association of Young Farmers' Clubs held its annual hockey and football eliminations recently at Peffermill Playing Fields.

In total eight teams arrived on the blustery October morning to compete in the hockey competition, where two leagues were held leading up to the semi-final and final games. Although the rain did not stay off for long, a great level of skill was displayed and all teams played well.

The results were:

1st – Ettrick and Lauderdale JAC;

2nd – Kinross JAC;

3rd – Strathearn JAC;

4th – Reston JAC;

5th – Bathgate JAC.

After refuelling at the Peffermill Clubhouse, six teams took part in the football competition, with another two leagues being played. No yellow or red cards were used, which lead to many members hailing the competition a success!

The results were:

1st – Forfar JAC;

2nd – Strathearn JAC;

3rd – Kinross JAC;

4th – Bathgate JAC;

5th – Reston JAC.

Organisers thanked Gavin Hardie, Sarah Dawson and Ben Moffat for umpiring the hockey matches, and Ian Baillie and Kevin Home for refereeing the football.

The top five teams within each competition now go through to the National finals, with the hockey to be held on November 26, at Inveralmond High School, and the football taking place on February 25 in Ayr.
