HELD alongside the North Region's agri competition weekend at Thainstone was the area's junior speechmaking competition where Janelle Anderson, Elisabeth Watt and Kathleen Swanson were in charge of judging.

Their red tick went to Turriff YFC's Fraser Chapman, Kirsty McKay and Natalie Mackie, who discussed 'Child beauty pageants not as demeaning as the media portrays’.

The topic 'The farmer wants a wife' earned Sandwick's Balfour Hay, Anja Hall and Rachael Dunnett, while Udny JAC's 'blue' team of Jamie Davidson, Rhea Work and Angus Riddoch came third with 'Technologies – no more'.

The prize for the best chairman out withthe winning team went to Sandwick’s Balfour Hay, while best proposer was Rachel Milne from Udny 'white', and equal best opposers went to both Shannon Foubister from East Mainland, and Rhea Work from Udny 'blue'.
