FOUR teams of two members from throughout the Grampian Region were given one hour to cook dishes using a bag of unknown ingredients including quality Scotch beef without the aid of recipe books, at the recent Ready Steady Country Cooks competition held at Mearns Academy, Laurencekirk.

Judges Annie Thow and Carol Maitland scored the teams based on all aspects of the finished dishes, including hygiene, technical skill and team work.

Winners Judy Mair and Amy Dalgarno, from Turriff JAC, will go on to represent the Grampian Region at the Royal Highland Show, cooking on the stage at the Young Farmers' centre against the Highland, East and West regional winners.

In second place were Rachel Milne and Gail Taylor, from Udny JAC A, and Arlene Black and Lorna Black, from Udny JAC B.
