THE recent SAYFC Grampian rally was hailed a huge success as the sun shone down on the 17 clubs competing at Turriff Show Park as the 2018 rally was hosted by the East Aberdeenshire district.

Claiming the top spot was Turriff JAC, which put on a good show throughout to add to the club's tally.

Other prizes saw Strathbogie JAC's A team win the stockjudging, valuation and reason giving while Turriff's Murray Stephen was the best individual.

In the industrial sections three teams, Kinneff JAC, New Deer YFC and Turriff JAC, shared the award for the club with the most points, with Vale of Alford JAC winning the handicrafts trophy while Garioch YFC has the most most in the industrial section. Best floral art exhibit came from Ellen Glennie, from Vale of Alford JAC.

Mid Deeside JAC triumphed in both the construction and ropemaking competitions, with Turriff JAC winning the ladies' ropemaking section and Kinness JAC recording the most points in the field contests.

Having won the netball competition, Strichen JAC also achieved the most points in the sports section while Echt YFC won both the five-a-side football and gents tug-of-war. Winning the ladies tug-of-war was Udny JAC.

With the top trophy going to Turriff JAC, it was also a good day for Mearns JAC when the club had the most members participate at the rally to help win the small club section.
