TOWNIES who move to the country to enjoy the ‘good life’ invariably end up objecting to some of the farm odours that can permeate the air from time to time.

However, things usually settle down as the former urbanites adapt to country life and accept that the quality of rural life usually outweighs the negatives.

But there are exceptions, and one campaign against slurry smell by a resident in Devon has reached the national popular press.

Indeed, Jeremy Roe, who lives in London during the week, but who owns eight holiday cottages in the village of Hartland, has set up a campaigning website (toomuchslurry.co.uk) to prevent a local dairy farmer from spreading slurry.

Some residents agree with him, but others have told him to “get a life, or sell and move”.
