THE term ‘bird brained’ is usually a derogatory description – but that might be all about to change if an American study is anything to go by.
Researchers there have found that chickens are able to perform simple maths and understand their place in social ‘pecking’ order. Furthermore, it seems they watch and learn from each other and can even master that most pernicious human trait – that of deceit!
There might even be room for them in the political system!
