THERE are a few instances where sheep can be involved in diversification projects, but most centre round wool and food production.
But a novel one I heard about this week concerns the Kingarrock nine-hole golf course in Fife which is a traditional hickory course, which plays the game in the original manner, using 1920 ground care practices.
Greenkeeper, Owen Browne uses a flock of 35 black Hebridean ewes to keep the rough, at the side of the fairways, in some kind of check.
We don’t yet know if the course shop sells Hebridean wool plus fours, or whether Hebridean lamb burgers are available at the 19th!
