“Alasdair do you prefer your pie hot or cold?”
It’s not often that you can say your bank manager took you to The Ritz for lunch in these austere times – but that’s exactly what happened to our editor, Alasdair Fletcher, last week.
To put it in proper context, though, he was having a catch up with the soon-to-retire RBS head of agriculture, Jimmy McLean. And The Ritz in question was the gastro pub at Gogarburn, near the bank’s HQ in Edinburgh.
Oh well ... Maybe next time!
