OUR schools have, quite properly, been drumming in to their pupils the need to collectively reduce carbon footprints and pay strict attention to the miles food and other commodities use in getting to these shores. But, at the same time, these self same schools have spent £1.3m stuffing their kids full of imported chicken which has travelled half way round the world from Thailand.
Not before time has a review been set up to look in to this and other nutrition standards in Scottish schools. It is to be hoped that the review also looks in to the drivel that is put in front of our patients in some hospitals which masquerades as nutritious food.
Now that is a real scandal!
