ISLAY was a hotbed of Gaelic and music last weekend as Alasdair Currie from Ballaclaven celebrated his 21st in style at Ballygrant Hall.

As expected, the entertainment was outstanding with local singer Libby Morris leading the way.

Yours truly was lucky enough to be invited and travelled from his ‘digs’ at Castle Currie in Port Ellen. However, local taxi man Hughie Currie was busy, so we had to call up the ‘Superuber’ octogenarian Willie Currie to convey us in his own unique conveyance. And extremely grateful we were too!
