SIR, – I feel that I must respond to SCF ranting.
It is quite clear in the Crofter Acts that the legislation is targeted at the shareholder, not at cliques and cabals that have such ruinous effect on communities.
In wider society, the worst form of abuse is to humiliate a person; that’s what happened when the ScotGov minister ordered the elected Crofting Commissioners to apologise for something they didnt do – they were only following government guide lines.
The aggrieved parties have taken their discontent to the Scottish courts. They were told that they didn’t have a case in the High Court in Inverness and told the same by the Scottish Land Court as both courts agreed with the Crofting Commission – so who is right?
There is a sinister force at work here!
I asked the opinion of a Lewis crofter. He said that the Commission was right to put in a Constable to get to grips what the “Mafia” were up to!
So, are we going to see this playground bulling style of Government as the the norm for the next five years?
This carry on has put a bitter taste in the mouths of crofters, as we see a change coming, as a person that is elected to the Commission only gets expenses and no firewall to protect him/her in the carrying out their duties.
Are we going to see Fergus Ewing changing the Commission, going back to the selected low integrity pussycats that had no mettle for the job.
If this is his view, goodbye crofting, as I see at present support is given to stubborn old men that don’t know their A from their E – and they call themselves teachers!
