SIR, – C MacDonald, and friends, (The SF October 29) might well think that farmers abiding by their strict biblical quote on observing the sabbath day, would be a blessing – but what about their cattle?.
If they follow this holy writ to the letter, then fattening cattle would be on a maintenance only diet on a Sunday, and the cows not milked till Monday.
I doubt the cows would see 'starvation Sunday', possibly followed by 'mastitis Monday' in a rosy light.
Some people believe in reincarnation. If that is really what happens, please don't put me back as a dairy cow on Lewis.
