Sir, – Back in August 22, 2015 you were kind enough to print my letter in the opinion section headed 'Keeping the dairy crisis in public domain'.
In the letter I highlighted what could be done if our Scottish cheese was consumed in our schools and colleges. Due to contracts not finishing till July of last year, nothing could be done till now regarding the promotion and pricing of our cheese at the expense of imports.
I am delighted to inform your readership that East Ayrshire Council, under the management of Andrew Kennedy and his procurement team, have contracted to use Scottish cheese in all schools and colleges within the region.
The same contract has now been taken up by North Ayrshire under Ken Campbell's procurement team. I wonder how many authorities can say they are fully supporting the dairy farmers of Scotland.
Well done Ayrshire.
