Sir, – Having retired and handed the reins over to one of my daughters, I have become aware that it's the ability of the young to adapt to whatever is presented to them, that keeps us all young at heart – if sometimes a little anxious.
I am ashamed to say that I had become all too cosy in the comfort blanket of the brown envelopes and feel more than just a little bit guilty, if the recent statement by the Bank of England that the country can cope with a hard Brexit means that my daughter's generation of farmers may have to suffer the consequence of politicians that hadn't thought things through.
Much as I commend the exuberance of youth, it is incumbent on the farming unions to make sure this exuberance is well balanced.
