IT IS early days yet, but so far the Brexit vote hasn’t led to to the apocalypse that many predicted. Indeed, a whole host of Scottish farm produce has benefited from a much needed fall in the value of sterling.
Industry organisations issued their demands/wish lists to governments this week. These were all well thought out and contained few surprises and were representative of the ideology of each.
Unexpectedly, collective governments remained silent, though it is looking likely that Scotland will be provided with the ammunition/cash to devise its own policy, which must be welcomed.
However, it is almost certain that there will be a renewed attempt to deliver a killer blow to the support for slipper farmers. It is inconceivable that a UK government will allow the present situation to continue. And this is one issue to which the Scottish Government will, undoubtedly, lend its support.
