LIVING up to his name, Shaken Not Stirred not only secured the cattle inter-breed at Dalry Show, on Saturday, but went on to lift the champion of champions ticket for Jennifer Hyslop.
Despite a wet start to the day causing some water-logged patches of ground, the sun shone during the livestock judging where Jennifer's Limousin cross bullock by Shire Apollo was awarded the top title on a points basis by all the judges to follow on from his bullock championship at the East of England Smithfield Festival last year.
In his section, cattle inter-breed judge John Graham placed him ahead of Andrew and Helen Kirkpatrick's three-year-old Highland heifer, Clagorm 6 of Glengarnock, a Orison of Culfoich daughter that stood reserve at Kilmacolm and Neilston shows.
In the sheep lines, a Texel ewe hogg by Dechmont Triple Chance from Peter and Lynn Gray won the supreme honours which was again judged on a points basis, and reserve here was the Blackface winner, a three-shear Auldhouseburn tup bought for £6000 from Jamie and Matthew Dunlop.
Among the Clydesdales it was Willie Drummond's Kilmaurs and Kilmacolm champion, Broadyards My Fair Lady, that picked up the tri-colour rosette.
See this week's issue of The Scottish Farmer, out May 28, for the full report, including pictures of the section leaders and all the leading awards.
