YOUNGSTERS were to the fore at Gargunnock Show, on Saturday, when Jamie Pirie, Stephanie Dick and Louise Cushnie all went on to lift the supreme honours in their respective sheep, cattle and horse sections.

But it was Jamie who had the most to shout about with breed wins in the Blackface, Border Leicester and Scotch Mule categories, before his Bluefaced Leicester leader went on to win the inter-breed title when tapped out by judge, Jimmy Sinclair, who was celebrating his birthday at Gargunnock.

Jamie's champion was a Cottage-bred ewe hogg by the C8 Highberries tup while the reserve sheep honours went to the Texel leader, a two-crop ewe by Sportsmans Tremendous from Donnie Allan.

In the cattle ring it was Steph's Aberdeen-Angus heifer, Weeton Evora, that caught judge Jimmy's eye to follow on from her reserve breed ticket at Drymen last week. Robert Graham's Jersey champion, Bluegrass Tequilas Lady Tango, a second calver, stood reserve here.

It was a similar story for Louise Cushnie's six-year-old Highland pony mare, Katrina of Strathmore, that was not only in-hand Highland champion, but went on to take the supreme in-hand honours as well as the supreme horse silverware, while Neil Christie's yearling filly, Dalfoil Catherine May, lifted the top Clydesdale ticket.
