DETAILS of this year's Countryside Area and Rural Skills Marquee programme, which bring together lifestyle activities, rural crafts and crowd pleasing displays, have been released.

Returning favourites such as the Drakes of Hazard, Clanranald Trust, Backwoods Survival School and Sealpin Gun Dogs will be joined by a raft of new demonstrators at the Countryside Area, which, with its own lochan, provides visitors with a feeling of rural escape amongst a hive of activity.

New to the arena for 2016 is the Ore Country Terriers. Formed in 2015, this Fife based charity, which raises funds for PDSA, will bring its family of Jack Russell, Border, Patterdale, and Beddington Terriers to the Show to wow audiences with their high-octane racing demonstrations.

The rare and majestic birds of the Ben Potter Birds of Prey Display Team will make a return to the Show after a short break in 2015. In one of the most natural displays of their kind, the magnificent birds will show off what they do best in the countryside surroundings.

Making use of the lochan, Scott MacKenzie's casting school will be giving useful lessons in the traditional art of fly-fishing, from the comfort of the Royal Highland Centre.

The Rural Skills Marquee will showcase specialist rural activities from Scotland's past and present. The Story of Wool, presented by Highland based activity company Wild Rose Escapes and the Galgael Trust from Glasgow, will demonstrate the whole process of sorting, scouring, dyeing, carding, felting and weaving wool.

Continuing a family tradition that dates back to 1331, Master Wheelwrights, Mike and Greg Rowland from Devon will provide daily live hot bonding demonstrations, the fiery process of producing wheels. The skilful process has gained Mike Rowland and Son the appointment to her Majesty the Queen in the position of Wheelwrights and Coachbuilders.

The UK's only extreme unicycling display team, Team Voodoo Unicycles, will be showing off their moves that have previously dazzled audiences at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and the London 2012 Olympics. Showgoers will be allowed to get hands on in between acts and have a go themselves - a great opportunity for both children and adults!

John Lamb will be back making the most of his thirty-years of experience in the role of arena commentator, providing fun facts and interviews throughout the show.
