LEADING THE way at a sunny Kilbarchan Show last weekend was the light horse champion, Jemoon Tambourine Man.

This nine-year-old gelding was show under saddle by Jennifer Garland, from Dalrymple, and is by Jemoon Celtic Warrior.

Runner-up for the champion of champions title was the best of the beef cattle, a mid-April-born steer calf, by the Limousin sire Roxburgh IOU, from Ali Young, Towncroft, Houston.

Also in the running was the best from the sheep lines, UA auctioneer, Richard Close's two-crop Texel ewe, which had also been continental champion at Houston for his small, Nethermill, Langbank-based flock.

Top dairy animal was the Ayrshire winner, an almost dry cow, Auchensale Classic Rose shown by David Carruth, High Auchensale, Kilbarchan, who also had the Holstein winner in veteran cow, Barcraig Shottle Snowflake.

One of the biggest shows of Clydesdales seen at Kilbarchan for many years, with 12 put in front of judge, Tom McMillan, from Rothesay, saw the tri-colour going to Willie Drummond, Broadyards, Craigie, with his two-year-old filly, Broadyards My Fair Lady, by Carnaff Ambassador, which was also champion at Largs and Kilmacolm.
