JUDGE of the Sanderson Trophy, Huntly-based Graham Milne, was certainly taken with his supreme Scottish native horse or pony champion, describing the Clydesdale leader Macfin Diamond Jubilee as faultless.

Mr Milne, a Clydesdale and Shetland pony breeder who has also judged the Shetland section here, added that the four-year-old mare, shown by Robert Sibbald in the ring who also piloted her to success at Balmoral three times, showed herself off well.

The Glebeview Sir Charles daughter also secured the Hanna family, from Ballymoney, Co Antrim, the Queen’s Cup which tours the beef, sheep, dairy and heavy horse sections each year.

Tapped forward for the reserve to take the James Clark Perpetual Challenge Trophy home to Fyvie, Turriff, was Wells McCoy, Harry Sleigh’s three-year-old Shetland pony colt, that had a great start to the year to take the supreme horse championship at the Royal Northern Spring Show.
