A CHESTNUT ridden show pony, was crowned supreme overall champion of champions at a busy Biggar Show, where a packed ringside looked on to see overall judge, John Dykes, West Linton, give the winning nod.
Star of the show was Lesley Parker's Hollybush Silhouette, from Hopelands, Newton, West Lothian, which was brought out by Charlie Cousens and is share ridden by twins Katie (5) and Sam Parker. No stranger to the limelight, this pony bred by Anne Clemmett, was champion at Kilmaurs, Dunblane and at the Scottish BSP.
Mr Dykes who had to select a supreme overall from a line-up of six to include the champion sheep, dairy, beef, pony, Cldesdale horse and dog, was most impressed by the top winners, but said he couldn't find a fault in the pony.
Inter-breed sheep judge, Thomas Illingworth, Lockerbie, found his supreme in a previously unshown home-bred Texel gimmer shown by the Clark boys from North Gargnour, Lesmahagow, which was providing the flock with it's fifth inter-breed championship of the year.

The runner-up sheep however went to a relatively new comer, when new 'herd at Troloss Farms, Danny Kennedy (20) was given the blue and white ribbons for his shepherd's Blackface champion, a two-crop ewe by a £28,000 Dalchirla.
Young John MacGregor, Allanfauld, also had a busy day having initially selected the winners in the Blackie lines, and later, the supreme beef, which came in the form of the Limousin leader from Norman Cruickshank, Cleghorn. This was the 19-month-old Irish-bred bull, Meenross Jamieson, a Wilodge Vantastic son, bought at Roscrea in February.
