EXHIBITORS and spectators alike enjoyed a mostly dry day at Banchory, last weekend, where it was the leader from the commercial cattle section that went home with the overall champion of champions sash.  Mark Robertson of Easter Fodderletter saw his heifer Nic Nak tapped out ahead of her counterparts from the sheep and native horse sections by Neil Barclay of HRN Tractors, after the individual section judges failed to agree on a final overall choice. This was this 15-month-old Limousin cross’ first major show win.  Over in the sheep lines it was the winner from the day’s largest section, the Texels, that came out on top. Having already taken the inter-breed at Fettercairn, Kenny Pratt’s gimmer, shown by his shepherd Richard Reynolds, took the overall sheep championship. Standing reserve in the sheep was the Suffolk ewe, from nine-year-old Faith Miskelly of Corrybrae, Kildrummy, Alford. Taking reserve overall in the beef lines was the Limousin cow and calf team from Aileen Ritchie, Tamala, Burnside .Brockhurst Howzat is a well-known show winner, having already taken the inter-breed titles at Echt and reserve breed title at Fettercairn. The native horse championship title went to the the miniature Shetland, six-year-old stallion Rocky of Haybrake, from Ann Irvine of Kininvie, Blackford, Rothienorman.
