MOST of the judging managed to take place in dry conditions at Lorn Show, which was again held at Tralee Beach, Benderloch, though the champion of champions spectacle was judged in a downpour.

Winning this was a gimmer on her show debut for the Ewens MacGillivray, senior and junior, Barcaldine Home Farm, Barcaldine, near Oban. Their home-bred cracker is by Hullhouse Uncle Bulgaria.

She had earlier beaten the winner from the biggest sheep section, the Blackfaces, for the supreme sheep title. This was Prosecco, a ewe from John MacPherson, Balliemeanoch, Dalmally, which must have set some kind of record, securing her fourth Lorn title on the trot to add to a heap of other show wins.

Top in a busy beef cattle section was the cross calf winner, Spare Ribs, from Douglas MacDonald, Tyree, Benderloch. This was a home-bred October-born steer calf by the Limousin sire, Tweedside Upstanding and out of a Limousin cross dam.

Champion Highlander was Michael Poland’s Eoin Mhor 15 of Mottistone, from West Ferlochan, Benderloch.
