Show winners old and new made their presence felt at Berwickshire Country Show, Duns, where the lead horse, a grey Connemara stallion, ridden by James Whiteford, collected the overall champion of champions.
This was Fuinseoig Boy, an eight-year-old bred by Mrs Rosalind MacKay, but owned by Mrs MB Whiteford, Longnewton Farm, Gifford.
Jack Arnott's top Texel ewe from the Border Union Show, continued on her winning ways too, going all the way to lift not only the breed championship but also the supreme sheep and the reserve overall champion of champions, for the flock from Haymount, Kelso. A two-crop by Knock Topaz , she is out of a home-bred ewe.
The main champion winners from the Border Union event were again to the fore in the cattle lines, with the supreme going to the lead Limousin, Keith Redpath's Dinmore Jollygood, a two-year-old bred by Paul Dawes, which was bought at Carlisle.
Reserve amongst the cattle was the Aberdeen-Angus leader from Kersquarter Angus, Kelso. This was the 16-month-old bull, Kersquarter Stirling, by Hallington Evo.
