MUD underfoot did not deter either entries nor spectators too much at this year's Mid Argyll Show.

Stewards and the show organisers worked round the clock to provide a suitable surface for most events at the show which was held in bright weather after a downpour of several days.

Producing a Clydesdale horse in top-top form in such conditions is not easy, but David and Callum MacPhail, from Campbeltown, did just that to have their brood mare, Garcalfra Sweet Chloe looking well enough to take her second champion of champions title in eight days, having won on home turf at Kintyre.

She was shown with her filly foal at foot, Garcalfra Sweet Jessica, at foot, which was reserve.

Archie MacGregor, Allanafauld, Kilsyth, was the main judge for the inter-breeds and he gave the reserve supreme award to the Highland cattle winner, the three-year-old Highland heifer, Neoneoin Ruadh 2 of Achnacroish, brought out by Stuart McKay for RD Schuster, Glenstrae, Dalmally, for her first title.

Also in contention was the top sheep, the Blackface ewe called Prosecco from John MacPherson, Balliemeanoch, Dalmally, which was winning her fourth title in as many outings.

From the confined champions, the top award went to a four-year-old Large Munsterlander bitch from Nicola Gray Stephens, from Brackley, Lochgilphead.
