For the first time, a commercial cow and calf outfit, triumphed to win the overall champion of champions trophy, at a rain sodden Abington Show This first-class sheep event normally sees the section inter-breed winner secure the supreme show championship, but overall judge, John Tough, Easterseat, had no hesitation in presenting the winning sash to Sandy and Gemma Forrest's Limousin cross cow and heifer calf from Hillend. Their second calver, which had been purchased last year at United Auctions, Stirling, from Craig Malone, as a calved heifer, was commercial champion at Biggar last month and last year.

With torrential rain for much of the judging, inter-breed sheep judge, Willie Dunlop, Elmscleugh, rapidly found his supreme winner in the lead Texel, a gimmer from Gordon and David Gray's Ettrick flock from Selkirk, with the blue and white ribbons, presented to the champion Bluefaced Leicester from show chairman, Allan Wight and son Ben, Midlock, Crawford.

Tops here was a gimmer by Ettrick Vagabond.
