GLENDALE SHOW near Wooler celebrated the 'Year of the lady' this year in style, with lady judges – most of them from Scotland – in charge of choosing all of the show winners from a record entry.

A packed ringside looked on as Marion Tilson, from Wedderlie, Gordon, chose the show's champion of champions, selecting the inter-breed sheep champion as her winner, ahead of the light horse supreme.

Chosen earlier as the top sheep by Fiona Sloan, Ruthwell, this was a Mule ewe lamb shown by Arthur Ramage, for Duncan Davidson's locally-based Lilburn Estates – the host for the show.

Very much a sheep show, the reserve supreme sheep title was taken by the Allen family – Billy and Kate, with son Dallas and daughter Ruth – who got that for their Lairg-type Cheviot winner off Stouphill, which was placed by Mrs Lillias Elliot, from Yetholm.

Their Humbleheugh flock of park-type Cheviots also led that section with a one-crop ewe by Allanshaws Nutmeg, as chosen by Mrs Joanna Gall, Mintlaw.

Kay Adam, Glamis, placed the cattle section, which was led by Buggerlugs, a Limousin cross steer shown by Jonathon Craggs, Glower O'er Him, Sedgefield, which was ahead of a pure Limousin heifer from James Marks, Gillyflatts, Stockton-on-Tees, with a pure Limousin heifer.
