CANADIAN judge, Jill Harvie, put the Herefords through their paces at Carlisle during the National calf show for the breed.

Supreme was the top bull from Tom and Di Harrison. Their Moralee 1 Northumberland is out of Moralee 1 Kylie and by Mallowburn 1 Jumpy Jack

Reserve, top junior and best female was GH Morgan's February calf, Fardre 1 Ms Gweno N665, a Canadian import via ET, by Harvie High Roller out of Harvie MS Gwen – both bred by the judge. She is for sale at the Designer Genes sale, in Shrewsbury, on December 10.

The reserve female was closer to home, with Ronald and Robert Wilson, Cowbog, Kelso, taking it with their senior leader, Romany 1 Lucy H12, a September, 2015-born heifer. She’s by the former Highland-winning Romany 1 Heavyduty.

Runner-up senior was Invictus 1 Anabella, a polled December, 2015-born heifer by the Danish sire, Moeskaer Magnum and out of Binnegar 1 Duchess, shown by Andrew Hughes and Becky Hurd, West Yorks.

A 1, 2, 3 in the young heifer class for Tom Harrison paid off when first placed Moralee 1 Nest Egg was reserve junior.
