LEADING a quality show of British Blue calves at the Border club's annual show at the Expo was Dylan Townend's Clifftown Luckystar, a February-born heifer calf from Quarry Farm, Broughton, Malton.

This youngster is by Tweeddale Ebony out of Jobarde De Fooz and was bought as an embryo inside a recipient at the Tweeddale dispersal sale in 2015. On her only other outing she was reserve at the North-east Blue calf show at Newark.

Another out of the same flush, the January-born Clifftown Ladyluck was reserve female for Mr Townend.

Reserve for the overall was the male champion, Abington Lionel, from Ian McGarva, Nether Abington, Abington, Biggar, but produced for him by Kelly Blackwood and Duncan Davidson. This naturally-bred January-born calf is by Corrandulla Finton and out of Abington Harriet, and was champion at West Fife show this past summer.

Reserve male was Blair and Shona Comrie's February-born Stonebyres Levi, from The Beeches, Stonebyres. A naturally-produced son of the Cogent bull, Kersey Geronimo and out of Tamhorn Goodtimegirl.
