WHO said dreams don't come true? After dreaming about winning a major primestock show, Aberdeenshire duo Blair Duffton and Rebecca Stuart, not only secured the overall cattle title at the Christmas Classic on Tuesday, but also the supreme at the Welsh Winter Fair, staged the same day.

Having first won the top ticket at the Classic at Thainstone, Mr Duffton from Huntly and Miss Stuart from Insch, then heard their stot, Tip Top, a Limousin cross out of a Charolais cross dam, scooped the lead honours at the Welsh equivalent, in the hands of Sean Kennedy, Ayr; Stewart Bett and Dougie McBeath, both Stirling.

Purchased at the Brecon Future Calf sale in February for £2300 from Colin Philips, Hereford, this cracker which scaled in at 640kg, went on to win awards at Turriff, Tarland and Banchory Shows in the summer.

Not surprisingly, every Scot in attendance at the Welsh Winter Fair, celebrated this first ever Scottish championship here, and with Tip Top going on to sell for £4000 to North Yorkshire butcher, Anthony Kitson, Yarm, there will be a few more parties to come yet.

The strange thing is, Blair actually dreamt about this big win the night before ...
