THE McKay family, from Carnaff, Dervock, dominated the Co Londonderry Foal Show, in Ballymena, Northern Ireland, last weekend, taking both the champion and reserve supreme awards, with Carnaff breeding also being behind many of the day’s other winners.

It was Carnaff Cynthia, a Carnaff Fascinator-sired filly foal, that took the top honours for Danny and Michael McKay. She is out of the Millisle Powerboat-sired mare, Inny Chloe. Chloe was also the dam of last year’s show champion, Carnaff Julie.

The same home also produced the reserve champion in the shape of the colt foal title winner, Carnaff Knockout. Another sired by Fascinator, he is out of the Carnaff Perfection-sired daughter, Archfarm Jessie.

Senior champion was Nigel Taggart’s Ballaney Lady Clover, from Armoy. This two-year-old filly by Carnaff Perfection, is out of Rhoin Bonnie Jean, a Greendykes Footprint-sired mare. Clover stood champion at the same event as a foal.

Wendy Holmes, Cairnhill, Coleraine, took the reserve senior title with the filly, Bratwell Colleen. By Dillars Scottie Boy, this yearling is out of the Dillars Cracker-sired mare, Carnaff Sabrina.
