A YOUNG bull named Haven Neptune proved the star attraction at the Hereford Cattle Breeders' Association Christmas calf show at Shrewsbury Mart, when the 13-month-old secured the male championship before going on to take the overall title.

Bred and exhibited by EL Lewis and Son, Dilwyn, Herefordshire, Neptune is full of home breeding, being out of Haven Shela 27 and by Haven Kingpin – a bull bred the best group of three by the same sire.

It was a great day for the Lewis family as they also took the reserve male title with another by Kingpin, this time the nine-month-old Haven Northstar, out of Haven Curly 124.

Among the females it was 15-month-old Normanton 1 Enoki 4 from the Liveseys at Manor Farm, Le Heath, Coalville, that secured the championship before standing reserve supreme and later selling at the Designer Genes sale for 6000gns.

Sky High 1 Dainty Duchess from B Birch and G Brindley, Weston, Staffordshire, was reserve female. The breeding here includes AI sire Romany 1 Lawbreaker RE L23 on to Shraden 1 Duchess L581.
