NORMAN and David Douglas, Catslackburn, Yarrow, emerged clear winners of the 2016 Cheviot Flock of the year at the society's recent AGM.
The father and son team who run several pedigree sheep flocks, ran away with the title scoring 62 points – 18 points ahead of their nearest rivals and second placed, James Common and Sons' Crossdykes flock from Lockerbie, on 44.
Third equal with 27 points were RH Paton, Castle Crawford and WJ Douglas, Upper Hindhope.
The AGM saw George Irving, Mountbenger, Yarrow, continue his position as president, alongside, John Paton, Gateslack, Durisdeer, as vice president, with Alistair Warden, Skelfhill, Teviothead as honourary vice president.
New secretary/treasurer of the Cheviot Sheep Society, following the retiral of Pat Douglas, is Robert McTurk, Thornhill, Dumfries.
And, newly elected council members are Tom Tennant, Gilmanscleuch, Ettrick and Jim Wood, Potholm, Langholm.
