PLANS are coming together nicely for the National Stallion Show which has this year, moved from its usual March date to the tail end of this week on Saturday, February 11.
To be staged in the Highland Hall at the Royal Highland Centre, Ingliston, the event will see judging for all three breeds – Clydesdale, Highland and Shetland ponies – kick off at 10.30am, with the parade of Clydesdale premium stallions to follow. At the recent close of entries, Clydesdale numbers were sitting at 77 with Highland ponies at 22, with the Shetland breed seeing the biggest entry by far with 123.
Morag Kennedy, the new secretary of the Glasgow Agricultural Society which runs the National Stallion Show, commented: “Despite a slow start, the number of entries is very encouraging, as is the level of sponsorship for all three breeds, and we look forward to welcoming exhibitors and spectators alike on Saturday.”
