MORE than 150 people took park in the Lanark and Peebles Blackface Sheep Breeeders' Association stockjudging competition at Lanark Mart, where Robert Kay, Gass, put the sheep through their paces.

Sheep were supplied by D and D Aitken, Upper Cleugh who won the best pen with a class of ewes; Glenrath (ewe hoggs); Hartside (ewes); Midlock (tup hoggs); Parkhall (ewe hoggs); Kingledores (gimmers); Nunnerie (ewes) and Corsebank (gimmers).

Overall champion was a tup hogg from Allan Wight, Midlock, with the award for the individual guessing the champion drawn out presented to young Ker Malcolm.

Mr Kay also judged the show of tups and tup hoggs which saw Midlock win the aged ram class and Troloss lead the tup hogg section.
