ALTHOUGH the rain threatened to be a dampener, the day managed to remain mostly dry, to the delight of exhibitors and visitors alike.

Maintaining his winning streak, James Nisbet, of Orchardton, Mauchline, was crowned the cattle inter-breed champion, with Mercedes, a yearling black Limousin heifer, which was also the beef champion at Ochiltree Show.

Montokhill Lauthority Tess, from Russell Davidson

Russell Davidson, of East Kilbride, was placed champion in the dairy section, with Montokhill Lauthority Tess, a Holstein Friesian second calver.

It was J and F Park, of Lochgreen, who succeeded in the sheep lines' inter-breed championship, with their one crop Texel ewe.

Caperhill Clio, from the McGills

With a busy Clydesdale section, the champion rosette was awarded to the McGills of Neward Estate, Ayr, with Caperhill Clio, a yearling filly. 

Marlene Young, of Holmes Farm, Drybridge, came out on top in the adults' industrial section, while Niamh Bryson, from Dundonald, was named champion in the children's industrial section.
