ALTHOUGH there had been showers of rain on and off throughout the day, sun shone brightly during the champion of champions selection, which saw Stuart and William Heads' Midlock tup awarded the red, white and blue ticket, by judge, George Neil, of Downham Farm, Mindrum, Northumberland.

This tup, which is by a £12,000 Aitkenhead, had already taken the interbreed sheep plaudits earlier on in the day.

Standing alongside the Blackie in the championship line-up was Neil Sloan, of Mauchline, who was showing for Willie Watson, Muir Farm Mauchline. He had taken the champion plaudits with a Holstein, Muir Sid Eliza, in the dairy section and then onto the interbreed cattle section, which saw him beat Jennifer Hyslop's red Limousin heifer, Golden Girl, bringing him into the final line-up.

Jim Rochhead's Malcolmwood Lady Muck, shown by Jen Spiers, was triumphant in the Clydesdale section, which resulted in Jen also joining the champion of champions line-up.
